what we did...
-
Created a series of interlocking formal areas to add rhythm and structure
-
Reused the existing Yorkstone paving alongside new Limestone setts for contrast and flow
-
Designed a water cascade running through a central rill, bringing sound and serenity to the garden
-
Repurposed original walling stone to terrace the embankment and give the space a sense of shape and permanence
-
Introduced multiple seating zones, including a curved tree bench to make the most of a beautiful mature specimen tree
-
Refreshed tired borders with new planting to soften the structure and bring life back into the space

client experience
My clients now use and enjoy the space far more frequently, with the water feature and terrace becoming favourite spots for relaxing and entertaining.

This was a garden of quiet transformation, not about starting from scratch, but about working with what already existed to create something structured, timeless, and far more usable. The result is a space that feels rooted in its setting, rebalanced in every sense, and ready for the next chapter.

Reviving a tired plot with classic structure,
reclaimed materials, and water-led calm
This large garden in Mansfield had great potential, mature trees, generous proportions, and quality materials already on site. But over time, it had become tired and uninspiring. A swathe of Yorkstone paving and lawn dominated the space, and a large west-facing embankment remained steep and unusable.
My clients wanted something more considered, a garden that reflected the elegance of their home, invited year-round use, and made the most of what was already there. The brief focused on formality, flow, multiple seating zones, and the introduction of water for sound and movement.
